Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, telephony systems have become recognized as a practical and useful tool in call center deployments, either as an adjunct to a conventional telephone switch or the sole telephony platform. In a sense, VoIP is the evolution of computer telephony integration carried to it's limit, in which some systems have no recognizable "telephone" components in the traditional sense, only computers of one form or another.
